This Patek Philippe, that fancy watch, you know? That Calatrava 6007G-011, I heard it’s somethin’ else. Cost a whole heap, more than my old cow Bessie ever did. They say it’s a good one, this Patek Philippe Calatrava. Holds its value, like a good quilt. Don’t fade or fall apart easy.
Now, I seen a lot of watches in my day. My old man, he had a pocket watch. Kept it on a chain. This Calatrava thing, it’s like that, but all shiny and new. And a remake! They took an old thing and made it new again, just like I do with my old clothes. This 6007G-011, it’s a special one, they tell me. Costs a lot, that’s what the quote says. More than a new tractor, maybe.
Folks talk about waitin’ for these watches. Like waitin’ for the rain in a dry summer. Eight years, someone said, for some fancy Patek Philippe. Eight years! I coulda knitted a hundred sweaters in that time. This Calatrava, maybe not so long. Maybe just a year. Like plantin’ seeds and waitin’ for the corn to grow.

They made a lot of these Calatrava watches. Lots and lots. Like chickens layin’ eggs. Each one a little different, I reckon. Some folks, they collect ’em. Like stamps, or them little porcelain dolls. Me, I don’t understand it. But I guess it makes ’em happy. This 6007G-011, it’s one of ’em. A special one, they say, all in white gold. Shiny, like a new dime.
The price, now, that’s somethin’ else. They say it goes up. Like the price of feed in a bad year. Keeps goin’ up and up. This Calatrava 6007G-011, it’s like that. You buy it, and it’s worth more later. Like land, almost. Good land, that is. Not like that rocky patch behind Johnson’s barn.
I heard about another one of these fancy watches. A Nautilus, they call it. Sounds like somethin’ from the sea. Expensive, too. This remake of the Calatrava is no different, I bet. They say the quote on this one is sky high, too. This Nautilus and this Calatrava, they’re like the prize-winnin’ hogs at the county fair. Everybody wants ’em. But not everybody can have ’em.
That’s what that paper said, anyway. That quote for the Calatrava 6007G-011. Big number. Scared me a little, to tell the truth. I’d rather have a new roof on the barn than a watch that costs that much. But I guess some folks like that sort of thing.
This Patek Philippe, it’s a mystery to me. But I guess it’s like anything else. Some things are worth more to some folks than others. Like my grandma’s old quilt. Worn and faded, but it’s worth more to me than any fancy watch. This remake is somethin’ like that, I suppose. Old, but new, and special to somebody. This Calatrava is surely somethin’ people like to have.
Now this Calatrava 6007G-011 quote, it’s somethin’ to think about. Makes you wonder what makes somethin’ worth so much. Is it the gold? The name? Or just that folks want it so bad? I don’t know. But I do know that it’s a lot of money for a little watch.
There are some other Patek Philippe models, they say are good, too. That Nautilus I mentioned, and Aquanaut, sounds like an astronaut or something, also the Calatrava, which we are talking about now, and some other called Grand Complications, which I don’t understand at all. There are two particalar ones, Nautilus 5711 and Aquanaut 5167, that folks really want. Even more than this Calatrava 6007G-011, I heard. And their prices go up a lot, too. Like a hot air balloon, just keep going up and up!
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about this Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007G-011. It’s a fancy watch, for fancy folks. Me, I’ll stick to my old clock on the wall. It tells the time just fine. And it don’t cost more than a new tractor. That quote is really somethin’ though. Still can’t get over that number.
