Alright, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout them fancy watches, the ones they call Audemars Piguet, you know, the AP. Folks talkin’ about gettin’ ’em monthly in Singapore, on that Reddit thing. Don’t rightly know what Reddit is, sounds like a rabbit hole to me. But watches? Now, that’s somethin’ I can chew on. Kinda.
See, they say you can buy these AP watches from an AD. Now, what in tarnation is an AD? Another dang acronym. Best I can figure, it’s a place you go to buy fancy things. And folks on that Reddit thing, they say if you bought a new AP from one of them ADs in 2022, you should tell everyone ’bout it. What watch you got, where you got it, and how long you waited. Waited? Why you gotta wait for a watch? Ain’t they got ’em right there on the shelf?
Then there’s this fella, he’s askin’ ’bout passin’ up a watch called Code 11.59. Sounds like a secret code or somethin’. He says he wanted a Royal Oak with a gray face or a black face, or even a green Code 11.59. Royal Oak? Like a tree? I don’t get it. These watch names, they’re confusin’ as a bag of cats.
- Royal Oak: Seems like this is a popular one. Folks talk about gray dials and blue dials. One guy even waited four months for a blue one! Four months! What’s so special ’bout a blue watch face?
- Code 11.59: Don’t know much ’bout this one, but it seems some folks don’t like it much. Guess it ain’t as fancy as that Royal Oak.
- Royal Oak Offshore Diver: Now this one sounds interestin’. A divin’ watch! Like, you can wear it underwater? Imagine that! Though, I ain’t sure why you’d need a fancy watch to go swimmin’.
And the money! Lordy, the money they spend on these things. They talk ’bout salaries at Audemars Piguet, and how much the watches cost in Singapore. Startin’ at 20 somethin’, they say. 20 what? Chickens? Dollars? A whole lotta money, that’s for sure. One fella even said you gotta pay extra to some “grey dealer” or send your wife to “please the AD” to get one! Now that’s just plain silly.
They say AP watches are more expensive than Rolex. Rolex, now there’s a name I recognize. Seems like everyone wants a Rolex. But AP, they say, is fancier, more “upper market.” Whatever that means. All I know is, they cost a pretty penny.
You can go to a “boutique” to see these watches in person, they say. Boutique? Sounds like a fancy word for a store. Or get your watch serviced there. Serviced? Like changin’ the oil in a car? Guess even fancy watches need fixin’ sometimes.
So, that’s what I gathered ’bout them Audemars Piguet watches in Singapore. Fancy names, big money, and lots of waitin’. Me? I’ll stick with my old clock on the wall. Keeps time just fine, and it don’t cost an arm and a leg. But hey, if you got the money to spend, I guess a fancy watch ain’t the worst thing you could buy. Just don’t ask me to understand all them fancy names and numbers.
