You know, those fancy watches, the ones they call Audemars Piguet, they got a history, you see. It all started way back, long, long time ago, in a place called Switzerland. Some fellas, young they were, Audemars and Piguet, their names was. They got together and started makin’ these watches. 1875, that’s when it was. Le Brassus, they call the place. Never been there myself, but I reckon it’s real pretty.
They weren’t makin’ no cheap watches, these fellas. Fancy stuff, with all them little gears and springs. Takes a real clever fella to make somethin’ like that. Took ’em a while, you know, to get things goin’. But they kept at it, workin’ hard. And then, in 1881, they started callin’ themselves Audemars Piguet & Cie. Fancy name, ain’t it?
Now, I ain’t one for all them fancy things. A watch is a watch, I say. Tells you the time, that’s all you need. But these Audemars Piguet watches, they do more than that, I hear. They got one, made it in 1892, that chimes the minutes. Minute repeater, they call it. Imagine that! A watch that sings! And then, they made another one, a real big one, a pocket watch, that did all sorts of things. Alarm, calendar, and even a thing that tells you the seconds real precise. Grand Complication, they called it. Sounds important, don’t it?

Now, people say these watches, they get more expensive over time. Like they’re some sort of treasure. I don’t know about that. Seems silly to me, paying all that money for somethin’ just tells you the time. But I guess some folks like fancy things. They call ’em AP watches for short, like it’s a secret code or somethin’. Royal Oak, Royal Oak Offshore, Code 11.59. They got all these different names for ’em. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me.
So, that’s the story of Audemars Piguet. Started with two young fellas, workin’ hard, makin’ watches. And now, they’re famous all over the world, I reckon. People payin’ big money for them watches. Makes you think, don’t it? About time and money and all that. Me, I’m just happy with my old clock on the wall. Tells me the time just fine, and it don’t cost a fortune.
You know, they probably got charts and graphs, showin’ how the prices went up and down over the years. PDF downloads, they call ’em. I wouldn’t know what to do with one of them things. Too complicated for an old woman like me. But if you’re into that sort of thing, I reckon you can find it somewhere on the internet. Just type in those fancy words, Audemars Piguet founding date and price history chart pdf download. See what comes up.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about Audemars Piguet. A fancy watch company with a long history. Started by two fellas in Switzerland. Made some watches that do more than just tell the time. And now, they’re worth a whole lot of money. Go figure.
