Alright, so you wanna know about this Audemars Piguet thing, huh? Fancy name, that. Don’t know what it means, but it sounds expensive. People like expensive things, I guess. Like them watches. Someone told me, these Audemars Piguet watches, they’re from Switzerland. Far away place. Full of mountains, I hear.
Now, they got these watches, see? Called Royal Oak. Like a tree, I guess. Why they name a watch after a tree, I dunno. But folks like ’em. Shiny, all metal and stuff. They say they got one with a rubber band, too. Rubber band on a fancy watch! Go figure.
- They got stores, you know. Like in Causeway Bay. Big buildings, all fancy. I went there once, just to look. Didn’t buy nothin’, too pricey for me.
- They got all these numbers and letters, like *.1240ST.02. What does it all mean? Don’t ask me! Just know it’s a watch. A fancy one.
Prices? Oh boy, them prices. They say average is like 44,000 dollars. That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life! But you can get cheaper ones, they say. Like 7,000 dollars. Still too much for me, but hey, maybe you got that kinda money. And the expensive ones? 330,000 dollars! Can you believe that? For a watch!
Some folks say they started making these watches way back in 1875. That’s a long time ago! My grandma wasn’t even born then. So they been making watches for a long, long time. Must be good at it, I reckon.
They got cheaper ones, too, like 17,000 dollars. But it’s got some quartz thingy in it. I dunno what that is. And another one, 25,000 dollars, but it’s got a “mechanical movement”. Sounds complicated. I just want a watch that tells time, not all that fancy stuff.
And this store in Causeway Bay, it moved. To a new place. Bigger, I bet. More room for all them expensive watches. People like new things, I guess. Always gotta have the new, the shiny, the expensive.
Someone told me, these Audemars Piguet watches, they’re more expensive than Rolex. Rolex! I heard of that one. Another fancy watch. So if Audemars Piguet is more expensive, then it must be super fancy. But why are they so expensive? They say it’s the “economy”. What does that mean? Just sounds like a fancy word for “it costs a lot”.
You can get a used one, too. Second hand, they call it. Maybe cheaper? I don’t know. But if you wanna save some money, maybe that’s the way to go. Who needs a brand new one when you can get a used one for less?
So that’s all I know about this Audemars Piguet thing. Fancy watches, expensive prices, Swiss made, and a store in Causeway Bay. If you got the money, go for it. Me? I’ll stick with my old clock. It tells time just fine.
