Ya know, folks always askin’ me about watches. Them fancy Swiss ones, they say. Ain’t got a clue why they think I know much, but I’ll tell ya what I see.
See, there’s this Tissot brand. Been around longer than I’ve been kickin’, I reckon. They got somethin’ called a “T-Touch,” sounds like somethin’ you do on your phone, don’t it? And a “Visodate,” prob’ly tells ya the date, imagine that. Then there’s a “Couturier,” fancy name, probably for fancy folks. But they ain’t gonna break your piggy bank, least that’s what I hear.
Then you got Swatch. Them’s the colorful ones, always seein’ ’em in the stores. New kids on the block, they are, started up back in the 80s, when everyone had them big ol’ hairdos. They make all sorts, some sporty, some flashy, some just plain simple. Good for the young’uns, I’d say, somethin’ to match their crazy clothes.
Now, I hear tell of some real high-falutin’ names too. Rolex, that’s a big one. Everyone knows Rolex, like they know Coca-Cola. Then there’s Patek Philippe, rolls off the tongue like honey, but costs more’n a whole hive, I bet. Omega, that’s another one. Been hearin’ that name since I was a girl, must be good. And Audemars Piguet, somethin’ like that, sounds like a mouthful, prob’ly costs a mouthful too.
- Rolex – They got somethin’ called a “Submariner,” for swimmin’ I guess, and an “Oyster Perpetual,” sounds fishy, don’t it? But folks say they’re the best.
- Tudor – Heard it’s related to Rolex, like cousins or somethin’. Probably good watches, but maybe a bit cheaper.
- Oris – Ain’t heard much about this one, but it’s Swiss, so it can’t be all bad.
Now, they say all these watches are “authentic.” Means they’re real, not some knock-off from down the market. And they come with all the fixin’s, boxes and papers and whatnot. But they ain’t cheap, none of them fancy ones. Gotta have deep pockets for them, I tell ya.
Folks always askin’ me which one’s the best. Well, that’s like askin’ which flower is the prettiest. Depends on what you like, don’t it? You want somethin’ flashy? Or somethin’ that’ll last you a lifetime? Somethin’ for special occasions? Or somethin’ you can wear every day?
If you ask me, a watch just tells the time. And any watch that tells the time right is a good watch. But if you want one of them Swiss ones, gotta be prepared to spend some money. Just don’t go breakin’ the bank for it. Time’s precious, but so is your hard-earned cash.
So, there you have it. My two cents on them fancy Swiss watches. Take it or leave it, it’s all the same to me.
