Well, well, well, look at this here, a Tissot watch for women, vintage dress, they say. Fancy, ain’t it? Now, I ain’t no expert on these things, mind you, but I know what I like when I see it. This Tissot thing, it’s a watch, right? Tells time. Gotta have one of those, else how you gonna know when it’s time to cook dinner or when the soap operas come on?
They call it vintage. What’s that even mean? Old, I reckon. Like me. But old ain’t bad, no sirree. Some things get better with age, like good wine or that old rocking chair on the porch. Maybe these watches are like that too. Maybe they last longer than these newfangled plastic things they sell at the store.
Dress watch, they call it. Guess that means it’s fancy, for when you go to church or a wedding. Not for everyday wear, I imagine. You wouldn’t wanna wear somethin’ nice like that when you’re scrubbin’ floors or plantin’ turnips, would ya? It’d get all scratched up.
- Now, they say these Tissot watches are made in Switzerland. Where’s that? Is that far? I hear it’s a place where they make good watches. And chocolate. I like chocolate.
- They say they’re expensive too. Well, I guess good things ain’t cheap, are they? You gotta pay for quality. But still, makes a fella wonder why something so small costs so much.
- And they got serial numbers, these watches. Like they’re important or somethin’. I reckon it’s so they know who made it and when. Kinda like how we brand our cows so we know who they belong to.
This one, it’s for women. Small, dainty. Probably got a skinny little strap. Not like my husband’s watch, big and chunky. He had one of them gold ones, used to wear it to Sunday service. Looked real fancy. Said it cost a pretty penny too.
They say these Tissot watches are luxury. What’s that mean? High-falutin’, I suppose. For rich folks. Not for the likes of me. I ain’t never had no luxury watch. My watch, it’s just a plain old one I got from the catalog. Keeps time just fine, though.
I see they come in different sizes too. Ideal size for a dress watch, they say. What’s ideal? Depends on the person, I reckon. Some folks like big watches, some like small ones. Me, I like somethin’ I can read without squintin’. My eyes ain’t what they used to be.
And they’re made of steel, gold, and stainless steel. Fancy materials, eh? Sounds strong. Durable. You wouldn’t want a watch that breaks easy, would ya? Especially if you paid a lot for it.
They say you can find vintage Tissot watches online. On the internet, you know. My grandson, he’s always on that thing. Says you can buy anything online these days. Even watches from Switzerland. Imagine that. You don’t even have to leave your house.
Now, I see they got some with stretch bands. Those are convenient. Easy to put on and take off. No fussin’ with clasps and buckles. And they say some are automatic. What’s that mean? They wind themselves? That’s clever. I remember my husband had to wind his watch every night. Sometimes he’d forget and it’d stop running.
So, this Tissot watch, vintage dress. Sounds like a nice thing to have. If you got the money, that is. Me, I’ll stick with my old catalog watch. It’s served me well. But if you want somethin’ fancy, somethin’ to show off, this Tissot might be just the ticket. Just don’t go wearin’ it while you’re plantin’ turnips, ya hear?
