This here Patek Philippe, they call it Calatrava 5226G-001, the original order, you know. Heard folks say it’s somethin’ special. Well, I reckon it better be for that kinda money they’re askin’. They say it’s a remake, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, I guess. They talk about investin’ in these things. Lord knows, I ain’t got that kinda money to be throwin’ around.
They say this Patek Philippe Calatrava, it’s worth somethin’ ’cause of the craft, craft-man-ship, that’s it. Means they made it real good, I reckon. But who needs a watch that fancy? My old Timex keeps time just fine, been tickin’ for years. This Patek Philippe 5226G-001, sounds like somethin’ you’d be scared to wear, ‘fraid you’d scratch it or somethin’. Not for everyday, that’s for sure.
Now, they got these other Patek Philippes, these Nautilus and Aquanaut things. And somethin’ called Grand Complications. Sounds complicated to me! They say the Nautilus 5711/1A and the Aquanaut 5167/1A-001, those are the real money makers. Go up in price, like gold or somethin’. But who knows if that’s true.
And get this, you wanna buy one of these fancy Patek Philippe watches? You gotta wait! They say for that Nautilus, you could be waitin’ eight years! Eight years! Can you believe that? For a watch! The Calatrava, the remake, the 5226G-001, they say that’s only a year wait. Only a year, like that’s nothin’.

This new Calatrava, this 5226G-001, it’s got somethin’ called a “Clous de Paris” bezel. Sounds like somethin’ you’d eat, don’t it? And “three-dimensional hands.” What in tarnation does that mean? My watch has hands, two of ’em, they point to the numbers. That’s all I need. They say it’s bolder than the old one. Maybe that’s why they say you can wear it every day.
They say this thing, this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001, costs, get ready for it, $39,033! Can you imagine? For a watch! Comes with two straps, they say. One’s made of calfskin, whatever that is. Beige, they call the color. Fancy, huh?
They been tryin’ to make this Calatrava, this whole line, I guess, more lively. Like it was dead before or somethin’. For almost a hundred years, they been makin’ these Calatravas. Now they wanna change it up.
They are famous for makin’ it good, yeah, I heard that before. The best watch maker from Genevan. Whatever that means.
They introduced this Calatrava 5226G-001 in some fancy show. Watches and Wonders, I think they called it. 3-hand model, white gold. That one is over €35,000. Goodness.
You know, if you saw this new Calatrava, you wouldn’t even know it was a Calatrava. Looks different, they say.
I don’t know nothin’ about these fancy watches. All I know is, they cost a fortune, and you gotta wait forever to get one. And they got all these fancy names and words I don’t understand. But if you got the money, and you like that kinda thing, well, I guess it’s your business. Me? I’ll stick with my old Timex. It tells the time just fine. That’s all this old lady needs.
This Patek Philippe Calatrava 5226G-001, this remake, it sure is somethin’. Somethin’ I’ll never understand, but somethin’ nonetheless.
Well that is all I know about this. Hope you can get something you need.
