Today, I want to share my little project of remaking the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. I saw it in the official flagship store and thought, “Hey, I can probably do that!”
First, I gathered all the materials. I already had some Saffiano leather scraps from a previous project, which was a good start. I also needed some hardware – magnetic snaps, bag feet, and some metal rings for the handles. I found all these little bits and pieces online. There’s a whole world of purse-making supplies out there, believe me!
Then, I started cutting the leather. This was the trickiest part. I measured everything like a hundred times. My table was a mess, covered in leather pieces, rulers, and marking pens. I even drew up a rough pattern based on the pictures I saw in the store.
- Cut the main body pieces
- Cut the side panels
- Cut the base
- Cut the straps and handles
After cutting, I began the sewing process. Now, I’m no expert, but I have a decent sewing machine at home. I stitched the main body pieces together, then attached the side panels. It started to look like a bag, which was super exciting! I also added the bag feet during this stage, which was easier than I thought.
Next, I worked on the handles. I cut long strips of leather, folded them, and stitched them to make them sturdy. I attached the metal rings to the bag and then fixed the handles. This part took some patience, but I got there in the end.
The final step was adding the magnetic snaps for closure. I carefully marked where they should go, punched some holes, and inserted the snaps. They clicked shut perfectly, which was so satisfying.
And there it was, my homemade version of the PRADA Galleria bag! It’s not exactly the same, of course, but it looks pretty good if I do say so myself. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Plus, now I have a new bag that I’m really proud of.
