Buying a Remake PRADA Galleria Bag? Is the Large Saffiano Leather Worth It?

Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag for, like, ever. I finally decided to pull the trigger and remake it. Yeah, the big one, the “Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag.” I heard they call it the “Saffiano Lux Large Double-Zip Tote” on Saks. Same thing, just a different name I guess.

Finding the Right Material

First things first, I needed to get the material. This bag is made of Saffiano leather. Now, I learned Saffiano is this special type of treated leather. They press it with this pattern that makes it super tough. Apparently, it is really tough and doesn’t get that worn look easily.

Getting to Work

So I got my hands on some good quality Saffiano, and let me tell you, it was not easy. This stuff is thick! I started by cutting out the pieces. I made a pattern based on pictures and measurements I found online. Then came the sewing. My little sewing machine was struggling, haha. I had to go super slow, and even then, I broke a few needles.

  • Cut the Saffiano leather according to the pattern.
  • Sew the main body pieces together.
  • Add the double zippers – those were tricky!
  • Attach the handles and the Prada logo.

The Finishing Touches

After many, many hours, I finally finished sewing the main part of the bag. Then it was time for the details. I carefully attached the handles. Those took forever to get right. And of course, I had to add the iconic Prada logo. I found a pretty good replica online, and with a bit of tweaking, it looked perfect. I even made a little inside pocket, just like the real deal.

The Result

It turned out amazing! Seriously, I was so proud of myself. It’s a big, sturdy bag that fits everything. My laptop, my notebooks, even my lunch! It’s definitely a statement piece. If you are looking for a good bag, I will say this “original order” one is a good choice. And I saw some stores even offer free shipping.

This project was tough, but so rewarding. I learned a ton about working with Saffiano leather, and I ended up with a gorgeous bag that I made myself. It holds everything I need, and it looks pretty darn close to the real thing.
