Alright, so today I wanted to mess around with my OMEGA watch, specifically the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the sapphire crystal. You know, the one everyone calls the “Sapphire Sandwich.”
First, I grabbed my watch and took a good look at it. The thing’s a beauty, but I wanted to see if I could make it even cooler. I remembered seeing some stuff online about changing the text on the case back, so I decided to give it a shot.
I started by looking around online for what characters are actually available. Found some website that had a whole bunch of different symbols and stuff. Some were pretty standard, like those geometric shapes, squares, circles, you know. Others were way out there, like a bunch of weird-looking symbols I’d never seen before.
Dug through a whole bunch of these symbols. It was kind of a mess, honestly. There were these things called Unicode blocks or something, and they had all sorts of stuff grouped together. I found one called “Geometric Shapes” and figured that was a good place to start.

- These symbols looked pretty cool, but I wanted to keep things simple.
Then I stumbled upon another site that talked about algorithms and how to change up strings of text. It mentioned something about looking for “%” followed by two hex digits. I’m not gonna lie, most of that went over my head, but it got me thinking about how these characters are represented on the computer.
After messing around for a while, I figured out how to copy and paste these symbols. I tried putting them into the text on the case back, just replacing a few letters here and there. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. I think I need to do some more research on this hex stuff to really get it right. I do not want to mess this up.
My next steps
I’m gonna keep digging into this. I want to figure out how to make this look really clean and professional. It’s like a fun little puzzle, and I’m determined to crack it. Maybe there are some other symbols out there that would look even better. This is a long way to make it, but I will insist.
It’s kinda cool to think about how you can personalize something like this. It’s not just about changing the strap or something, it’s about actually messing with the text itself. Makes the watch feel even more like my own, you know? I will try to find more info from others, just to see how they did it.
